Its down to the last four in the Currie Cup semi finals as the Sharks host the Blue Bulls and Western Province take on Golden Lions at Newlands.

The Sharks are favourites to win this semi-final, they’ve only lost two games in this years Currie Cup season, their first defeat was against Cheetahs in Bloemfontein, losing 47 – 12, their second defeat was last weekend against Western Province (31 – 20). The Bulls on the other hand have suffered seven defeats this season. Sharks have the best defensive record in the competition while the Bulls have the best ball-carrying stats. This season the Sharks have beaten the Bulls twice, 18 – 5 at home and 20 – 28 away. First time in five years, these two teams meet in the semi-finals.

Second placed Western Province will host 2015 champions Golden Lions at Newlands. Head to Head this season, both teams have lost away from home, Western Province thrashed the Lions 39 – 3 in Cape Town and the Lions returned the favour a fortnight ago with an unconvincing 29 -20 win. However the Lions have strengthened their team to face Province by adding their Springbok players to the starting line up, Ruan Dreyer, Malcolm Marx, Ross Cronje, Courtnall Skosan and Andries Coetzee. For Western Province, Damien Willemse makes way for Dillyn Leyds at full-back while Ruhan Nel moves to the left wing.
