In a turn of events after the World Rugby Body preferred South Africa as a candidate to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup, it was announced this afternoon that France will be the hosts of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The voting was as follows:
First Round:
France 18 South Africa 13 and Ireland 8
Second Round:
France 24 South Africa 15 Ireland 0
France would have needed a clear cut majority to host the World Cup hence the second round votes.
