It was a tough opening day for American Womens tennis at Melbourne Park on Monday.
Reigning US Open Womens Champion, Sloane Stephens and 2017 Wimbledon finalist Venus Williams were knocked out in Round 1 of the first Grand Slam of the year.
Williams lost to Belinda Bencic 6-3 7-5
Stephens lost to Zhang Shuai 6-2 6-7 2-6
Coco Vandeweghe lost to Timea Babos 7-6 6-2
