Argentina failed to get three valuable points against newcomers Iceland on Saturday. The star-studded Argentine side opened the scoring with a brilliant Kun Aguero goal but the celebrations were short lived as Iceland hit back minutes later with an equalizer.
Argentina were awarded a penalty in the second half and Messi failed to convert. Game ended in a 1 – 1 draw.
African woes continued as the Nigerians lost to Croatia 2 – 0. Not the ideal World Cup start that Nigeria were hoping for, an own goal and a Modric penalty sealed a victory for the Eastern European side.
