New-look Lions no favourites to win Currie Cup, says coach

  
Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann has disputed suggestions his team are favourites to win the Sport/Rugby/" title="Rugby">Rugby-school-sport/" title="Rugby">Rugby/currie-cup/" title="Currie Cup">Currie Cup, after they snared their first win against Sharks/" title="The Sharks">The Sharks in Durban since 2007 with a 31-16 triumph that was closer than the deficit suggested.
“The fact that we haven’t got the likes of Lionel Mapoe, Faf de Klerk, Corne Fourie and a long list of other players who were playing Super Rugby for us, (means) we’re a different team. If people want to tag us as favourites, they can do so but we don’t see ourselves as favourites,” Ackermann said.
